Delsue Welch Entertainment (DWE) was established in Houston, Texas around September of 2005 as a local theatrical Stages Theater Houston company that specializes in live theatrical stage performances. It was named after its founder, Delsue Welch, who is an established playwright, producer, and director. Through its live theatrical stage presentations, DWE delivers and presents educational, spiritual, family-oriented, and socially-relevant presentations for public consumption.
Ms. Welch is a native of Palestine Texas. She graduated from high school at the age of (16) sixteen. She moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston Downtown to major in Drama. Later she moved to California to attend the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena California. After returning back to Houston, she later married Raymond Anthony Welch Sr. and unfortunately after the untimely death of her husband she returned back to college where she received her Associate Degree in Arts from Houston Community College and later, she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Houston Downtown.
Ms. Welch self-published her first book “Mixed Drinks” a book of poetry, focusing on diverse issues in today’s society. Her poem titled “X” featured in “Mixed Drinks” won an Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry presented by The National Library of Poetry. Her poem titled “If God Needed Us,” which was also a part of “Mixed Drinks”, won an Editor’s Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry as well presented by The International Library of Poetry. Her most recent book of poetry is called “Dear Lord Answer the Phone.” Her performed dramatic works are The Stage Play “Trophy” first presented February 19, 2006 at the Cullen Performance Hall, The Gospel Stage Play “Tell God I’m Looking for Him” first presented August 18-20, 2006 at the Mid-Town Art Center and The Gospel Stage Play “Enemies” first presented October 20 & 21, 2007 at the Heinen Theatre. Ms. Welch has written many other works which include other stage plays, comedy skits, and screenplays.
Not being driven by a 9 to 5 lead Ms. Welch into the world of Entrepreneurship, which inspired her to further her education and receive her Master’s degree in Business Administration from the American InterContinental University (AIU) Houston, and several business certifications; a Licensed Insurance Agent, Mortgage Broker, Real Estate Agent, Signing Agent and Texas Notary Agent. But her burning desire for the world of Entertainment has now led her back to the stage, her first passion, her God given “Calling”, to inspire and touch the hearts of many by Evangelizing “The Message of God” through “Creative Entertainment”. Now she presents in 2020, May 23rd, The Stage Play “An Interview with God.”
Ms. Welch is a mother of two sons, Raymond Anthony Welch Jr. and Keenya Lamar Smith Jr. and a grandmother of two grandsons, Delson Adonis Welch and Lamarille Smith.
